Badlands

Badlands, directed by Terrence Malick, is a haunting portrayal of young love spiraling into a crime spree that captures the disillusionment of the American Dream. Inspired by the real-life murder spree of Charles Starkweather and Caril Ann Fugate, the film follows Kit (Martin Sheen) and Holly (Sissy Spacek) as they leave behind their small-town life for a road trip filled with violence and tension. Martin Sheen's performance as the charming, charismatic sociopath is highly compelling.
