Quick Info

Hanna is a slick action-thriller series that takes the premise of the original 2011 movie and runs wild with it, following a teenage girl raised in isolation who turns out to be a genetically enhanced super-soldier on the run. The show does a great job expanding Hanna's world, giving her more time to develop than the film did, and really dives into the murky world of secret government programs and the gray morality of her pursuers.

What stood out for me was the grounded, European feel — the action is well-shot and punchy, but the show also makes time for moody atmosphere and real character moments, especially between Hanna and her "father" Erik. Esmé Creed-Miles is fantastic in the lead; she brings both vulnerability and toughness to the role in a way that makes you care about Hanna even as she’s snapping necks in the woods. The supporting cast, including Mireille Enos as a relentless agent, adds just the right amount of tension.

Not everything is perfect — there are a few slow patches in the middle, and the show sometimes leans a bit too heavily on angsty teen drama territory. Still, if you like your action with brains and a strong emotional undercurrent (think early Alias or Bourne films but with a teenage twist), Hanna is absolutely worth checking out.
